how about using a length of fluorocarbon or Amnesia. All you would need are a few beads, swivels etc or something like this

Why do you need a leader at all? Power gum stop knots on the mainline and use putty on the hooklength swivel to make sure it doesn't lift the mainline off the bottom.

For those of you that use the good old choddy, check out the new Gardner chod hooks! I think they are out soon, and ive heard that they may be brown in colour, but honestly dont let that put you off. They are sharper than sharp, even after 5 bream and a hard fighting near 30 common! Have a look!

How about those clear leaders that the likes of Korda or Wychwood sell?

I like the idea of using say ESP Anchor tubing because there is still some protection for the fish on capture.

I've tried a few leaders for fishing in the weed but I've not found one yet that isn't blatantly obvious. If there's any sort of weed or crap on the bottom that means my leadcore wont be flush with the bottom then I find mainline straight through gives a much better presentation. As for it protecting the fish I've never found it a problem, I never use tubing on the rivers and never once seen any mark on them from the line, nor any fish I've caught off the top using thin pre-stretched hooklengths, light mainline and protracted fights in heavy weed.

Im going to try making up some fluorocarbon leaders this year for fishing chods in heavy weed so I'll see how that goes but more than happy with 15lb line straight through.
