For the T1 lovers out there! WARNING This thread is a blatant plug for Baitcraft and contains only pictures of Big Carp caught on Baitcraft baits ;D www.baitcraft.com/T1 A REVIEW - 4th August 2008 I first came across Baitcraft and proprietor Mark McKenna by way of a personal recommendation from Ex Carp angler of the year Craig Lyons. I quickly picked up the phone to Mark for a chat. Since that day I have simply never looked back. Here is a man and bait company that have absolute 100 % belief that they offer an exceptional quality food bait that is second to none. Strong words I know, however exhaustive testing at all times of the year, the quality of Ingredients and control in the manufacturing process by Baitcraft ensure that nothing is left to chance. Mark McKenna is a bait buff and a half with an exceptional knowledge of Carp and Carp bait, T1 has destroyed Waters that you and I can only dream of angling on, however it is you and I that benefit from this. We now all have access to a Carp bait that you can use with confidence all year, no matter what the conditions safe in the knowledge that the guy in the next swim is not using anything better. I began applying T1 to my syndicate last season and landed my target fish just 16 nights into the campaign. I put the bait where I believed the fish would be at the given time and caught it. The bait did everything it should have. Since then the bait continues to be consumed with gusto. T1 is a brown/red coloured boilie that still remains semi soft inside but has an outer skin that is ideal for throwing stick use but still the ideal texture to attract from the moment it enters the water. It is ideal for a one off session as it attracts from the off and you do not have to use kilos and kilos of bait like some of today’s anglers would have you believe. For the campaign angler the bait will dominate when applied well. It is a complete food and Carp bait. If you do not catch when using T1 take a good look at other aspects of your angling because it sure isn’t the baits fault! T1 is available in a variety of sizes including barrels. Pop ups are supplied in leak proof pots and remain popped up for days, they are ideal for chod rig presentations and can be pierced with no worry. The accompanying liquid additive named Cow Cola is formulated using the same chemical stimuli contained in the boilies and can be used as a glug or in PVA. I always glug my pop ups indefinitely. Just 5 days before writing this I landed a cracking 36 lb Mirror on a pop up that had been sitting in Cow cola for 8 months! If you want the best bait that money can buy and to sit behind rods safe in the knowledge that the Carp will eat your bait with confidence then contact Baitcraft. Marks always up for a chat. Baitcraft News
November 22nd 2008 New Products Hi All,
just to keep you posted on the current status with new products, there have been rumours circulating !
There has been a demand for a dedicated winter bait from us, our message has been plain and simple all along - stick with the T1. I know for many of you I'm preaching to the converted however the shops are insisting there are some who need something bright that smells of fruit to feel like they're fishing 'properly' in winter.
I have access to both new and long forgotten winter bait components that will ensure that we deliver the requirement with enough innovation to justify entering the dedicated 'cold water' bait market.
The new bait is called SNOW BALL and as well as being an off white - cream colour and smelling of Blended Citrus Fruits it contains amongst other things hydrolysed (predigested) casein, hydrolysed whey, milk salts, milk peptides, calcium caseinate, alpha lactalbumin, beta lactoglogulin, and rennet casein. It's NOT a high protein product but it DOES most definitely comprise cutting edge nutritional milk protein fractions and highly digestible energy sources which are not only extremely attractive to carp (and barbel) will deliver a very useful source of nutrition for fish if you decide to apply the SNOW BALL properly (little and often to known winter feeding areas).
As with all our products there is no need to 'introduce' fish to SNOW BALL they will just eat it from 'the off'. Some of the milk fractions we have used have what can be described as a rather 'subjective' taste. Used in combination with the Essential Oil based label and a sweetener the bait has a 'sweet and sour' taste on the human palate with a distinct 'tingling' sensation on the tongue. As it's for Carp not humans you'll probably find fish enjoy it more than you do.
SNOW BALL will be available in the shops next weekend in 12 and 14mm (check your local stockist has some on order) with pop ups to match.
We have also been thinking about future all season products and have a number of options available to us, all of which will catch carp. There is one that stands head and shoulders above the rest and this is the bait we are going to proceed with for further testing. As well as the usual suspects we are going to need about 50 additional 'field testers' to help confirm the bait which will be known as 'SPECIAL K' will work in all waters in all weathers.
We haven't deviated a million miles from the T1 base mix but the combination of attractants we have used has left us with a very 'different' alternative to the T1. what's it like? - think powerful savoury, meaty, spicy / smoky type aroma and you aren't far off. We'll only be using subscribers to this site for extended testing of the product if you're interested in applying for testing you need to have applied by the end of December to me direct on 07980 664698 as the programme begins very early in the new year to take make use of any available cold water time this winter.
The planned release date of this product is still 24 months away and will only be available to field testers during this period so if you don't want to participate in the programme now please understand that it is not available until we're finished testing.
Regarding the existing T1 range we will be adding two different frozen pastes to the range one for hookers and one for wraps as well as adding a T1 pellet and possibly a stick mix by early next year.
That's all for now
Happy Hunting
MARK

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM MARK
Hi Guys,
just a quick note to say thanks for your support in 2008 it's been a great year for us and we're chomping at the bit for an even more successful 2009 - if that's possible!
It's been a crazy year results wise among the highlights we've had a 91lb world record mirror, a UK 56lb mirror, 4 forties in 24 hours, 17 fish from Savay including 4 forties, 3 forties from Savay, 3 forties in two sessions for a new user on a new water, 40lb+ commons to 46lb the list goes on and the season is by no means over. Top angling to those responsible.
I know the new fieldtesters for the new bait are going to be experiencing some spectacular action in 2009 because I know what I caught on the prototype beggared belief at the time, I'd love to be able to claim it was all skill and watercraft but they just wanted it too badly for me to go wrong. Tight lines guys and welcome to the firm.
What is it in our baits that make them work so well - confidence above all else, our mission was always about selling bait we know works, that we're happy to use ourselves all year, and that delivers improved results to those that get on it - no one has ever been able to claim that we don't deliver on this and that's how it's going to stay.
We don't claim it's the ultimate bait and your blanking days are over we just let the results speak for themselves, you still have to catch them, carp fishing is never going to be that easy, nor should it be, they're wild animals that don't read crafty carper!
There are tough times ahead for everybody and the squeeze on profits will lead to a corresponding dip in quality from some firms, not with us, we will still be using all the milk protein fractions, fish proteins, genuine LT94 and other top quality ingredients that have put us on the path to success, we don't envisage any further price increases as the global ingredients markets have stabilised for now.
However we won't be dropping our prices in a panic to keep / win business when all around us the cut price bait dealers are going into overdrive, remember one of our baits is worth 3 of anyone else's in terms of nutritional value, taste and attraction, and I know even if your on the bones of your arse you still want your angling time to be productive.
Remember catch reports on here and in carp-talk can win you free bait, I can't promise you'll win every month as competition is likely to be stiff during the warmer months but if you get involved and consistently put the reports in I'll spread the love as best I can.
Wherever you fish and whatever you fish for I hope you catch the fish of your dreams in 2009.
Happy New Year & Tight Lines
Mark

Well I suppose the last couple of posts have kinda answered my question, but as someone looking for a new permanent bait, I checked out baitcraft, and it may be stupid but the thing that worries me is the fact that they only have one or two baits.
Presumably Spence they are now testing new baits and you have kind of stated but surely they must at one time have had numerous baits? Did they develop the T1 and then decide to ditch the rest as none of the others could compete with the T1?
What are your expectations of future ranges? ie: how soon do you expect them to have more baits on offer and how many baits do you think they will have on offer within say the next year or so?

Danny, in answer to your question...Why do you want another? Why in a year or so? From results I believe T1 just gets better and better and would happily use it permanetly. Certainly after 2 1/2 years of putting it in and about 300 kilos I have no doubt about its effectiveness. Mark has studied very extensively the dietry requirements of carp, more than anybody I know(look at his series in Carpworld) and has also done as much research into attractors along with major tank testing over a period of time. The T1 was developed to fulfill the needs of the carp in all temparatures and and to be attractive from the outset. In Marks opinion he cannot produce a better bait. The new bait out is the snowball, to keep happy those who like a fruity bait and to come off of fishmeal in the winter( which you dont need to with T1). The new bait is on test, he has tested it as far as he can and believes it rivals T1. To my knowledge its not massively different. Ill be giving it a go as he would like me to, however if he didnt Id happily use T1 for life! Danny I just use the bait, Mark is the man to ask. I chose it after speaking to him and cant see me ever changing. I could get other baits free, but pay for my T1
