Boilies are what you're angling with so it makes sense to feed them with what you're trying to catch them with. For me pre-baiting is defined by a number of factors:
Where they're prepared to eat it Where you can fish for them and where they're prepared to eat it (taking into account snags, weedbeds etc) How you can, following the previous criteria, introduce it without others witnessing it or suspecting it
It's not easy, it involves lots of observation, plenty of bullnutsting and no end of hard work but it pays off in the end. It wont last forever as the vultures will be swarming all over your sucess but you'll have your photos to amuse yourself while they perservere fruitlessly over barren spots that you've already raped. Nothing in carp fishing ever stays the same. My good friend Mark always says that 5% of people catch 95% of the carp and I'm finally starting to grasp exactly what he means.

Hi Matt do you reccomend prebaiting with just one "flavour" or would you suggest multiple flavours/colours/sizes. Personally I use the same as I intend fishing with, however a very learned colleague has suggested chucking in several different flavours. Apparently to allow him to use different hook baits during the session if the ain't having it on one particular flavour. The different sizes I can appreciate but in my humble opinion by putting in several different flavours I feel I am giving them to much of a choice & therefore reducing my odds of catching a fish on the day. I would value your comments & indeed anyones views on this. regards John

Bait up with the Bait you intend to use dont do it in front of people cos you wont get back in the swim it doesnt need to be tons of bait regularity is the key and when angling only use a few baits but stick a bit more in when you leave

Little and often and in various sizes...keeps them guessing

I can understand different sizes, makes the baits behave differently so it makes your hookbait less suspicious. I wouldn't use different flavours unless I was fishing for particularly naive carp who haven't really seen bait before. I'm trying to get the fish confident in one particular bait, ie the one I'm trying to catch them on, and the more often I can get them eating it the more confident they will be when the time is right to start fishing the spot.
