I had 4 trout on a Olive dry fly yesterday afternoon..was sooooooooooooo nice to get away from idiots in bivvys who think they are "real" anglers.. ....real anglers my fecking arse.. Time of the month? yeah mate...Olives are an early season hatching fly and generally hatch around lunch time and especially after its rained... i am terribly bored of carping....or should i say carp anglers...they used to be up there, and possibly the highest quality angler, but now....me thinks not. Ive walked so many lakes over the years, seen so many changes over the years and in carp angling its now become all bollox...the stuff we read, the lakes which are rammed with crappy stock fish, the pathetic bivvy bridage, the marketing of the "latest" seceret bait, tackle or rig and everyone thinks they have summut the next man dont.....fecking makes me laugh. And in all the negativity, in my opinion, i have enjoyed so many things within carp fishing, there really is nothing like waking up with the mist rising as the sun pokes it head through, the first brew of the day whilst watching your rod tips on a lake that very few people fish or even know about.....then the sun comes up and the mist is gone........and all you can see is 50 bivvys and all of them have a fecking cheating, evil things, TV, DVD, battery pack, trolleys, 16 plastic buckets.....and a fecking good luck charm on their back rod rest! I'm sure you get my drift.

I can see where your coming from with this, bigtime. I love my carp fishing, but i also love getting the other rods out every now and then, off up th severn, or teme, barbel fishing, or just doing some form of other fishing like i used to when i was a kid. I know that when im truely sick of the carp scene, and i dont think it will be that long, i can still find enjoyment elsewhere. There is more to fishing than sitting behind three rods. But for now, im content to do this until the time comes for the other species, and then the fun will start all over again!

Oh no, not more noddies taking up clay shooting. Whatever next. If your fed up with the noddy bivvy brigade you just wait until you meet the Sloan Ranger brigade within the clay shooting fraternity. Green wellies, skeet vests, Berretta 686 O/Us & their imaculate Range Rovers that never go off road. The muddiest bit of ground they drive on is the grass verge outside the school gate. Still it's not all bad. Once they get fed up shooting clays they buy themselves a bivvy & some rods & become carp anglers. Seriously, I hope you enjoy your return to clay shooting. As you are aware it's great fun & very adictive. Also bivvies are not allowed on most clay shoots. Well not down south. Not sure about north of the Watford Gap

You will be back Joss. I felt the same when the hair came out and everyman and his dog became an expert. Your doing the right thing for now mate, a change is as good as rest. When the bug bites again, go and stalk one out the margins or nick one off the top, while the bivvi boys ZZZZZZ ;D

Have you ever considered wildfowling Joss. It's fantastic, as you are out on the wild, windswept saltings with just yoursel & a dog for company or occasionally maybee a friend. You have the world to yourself & to be honest it's such a beautiful setting there are numerous times when the disturbance made by shooting at a duck or goose would totally ruin the peace & tranquility. It's a cold & at times wet & very muddy sport but if your looking for that something special you really can not beat it. You & the dog at one with the elements & as for the results, well thats not what its all about. Sometimes a handful of widgeon or a single teal. Sometimes nothing, but every time a beautiful sun rise & a wonderful new dawn, fantastic, you really can't beat it if you enjoy being out on your own. ;D ;D ;D No bivvies, no noddies, no to**ers who think the sun shines out of their rear end & nobody trying to impress cos the mud & the fowl are great levellers. They show no respect for anybody ;D It also fits in really well with the colder months of the season Sept till Jan or Feb depending upon whether you shoot above or below the high water mark. So you can get the best of both worlds ;D

When the bug bites again, go and stalk one out the margins or nick one off the top, while the bivvi boys ZZZZZZ ;D Im off to Mar Peche a week this friday, and im really looking forward to that to be honest Robin, only 6 of us on the whole lake, all 25acres of it...Then im bailiffing out at Les Quis in July, which to be honest i prefer than actually fishing it, its nice to be able to help people catch their dreams/pb. Lac Unique in sept with 4 of us, agin whole lake booked up. I've basically give up in the UK, i had more pleasure fishing the canal last yr, as i never saw one bivvy all yr....and caught some stunning fish, but as they dont have a name and not 40+ and dont get caught and appear in the rags 6 times a yr , they dont count in some pples eyes.... :-/i will still fish my estate lake from time to time, but no one fishes on it anyway.....I'm just sick of magazine head self confessed filled morons.

I'm going to try a certain approach at Eridge Park this year and I think the RnR is the bait that might work best with the tactic. I'm going to be fishing and baiting an area more often than on previous occasions and I want something a bit more long term whereas I look at the PRB as a straight in high attract kind of thing. I also want a bait with a little less colour in it.
I could be totally wrong but we'll see.
