I fish on my own pretty much all the time and for the past 5-6 years I've taken probably 99% of my photographs on my own with the aid of a tripod and an infra-red remote on my camera as on the waters I fish I'm lucky enough to be the only person there more often than not ;D I've been reasonably happy with the results up until fairly recently but it's not perfect as it can be a bit difficult to hold a decent sized fish and use the remote at the same time. My mrs is really into her photogrophy and last year she bought a top notch Fuji digital SLR which, needless to say, curiously found its way into my fishing bag about 5 seconds after she'd taken it out the box. It doesn't have a remote though so after a bit of searching I bought myself one of these brackets with a 20 foot bulb release. What a superb piece of kit and makes self photography incredibly easy. I can't recommend it enough. If you're interested the photo I have as my avatar is a self take with this set up. www.srb-griturn.com/cable-release-bracket-for-slr-cameras-860-p.asp
