Spud, I have just had a look at the Blue lake site and read a few points I would disagree with having fish it many years ago. The write up talks of depths to 22 feet, I found 35, it talks of gravel bars, I doubt that in a chalk pit and the other may just have been a spelling mistake but one of the best known swims was called Gemmels, not Gammels. ;D ;D ;D

how hard is the fishing robin ? Can be hard to locate feeding fish as I'm sure that they feed off the sides of the chalk cliffs and have no need to up end on the bottom. If you have fish in a tank or a pond watch them and you see what mean.

i know a few blokes fishing there there is a few pigs in there, i was feeding them in the summer, i worked on the railway right next to the lake and as robin said they feed right off the shelves and love a mixer too, its all abit hush hush down there, best way is to go and have a dangle for them

bitty theres a great big bar that runs parralell to the tree line to the left of where you fished (gemmels) it runs right the way upto the old car park swims where all the iron works stick out the water .the swims at the car park are now 6 foot under water!.theres also the ramp which goes down to 38 ft - 0 with a sheer drop either side id imagine its where the old machines would enter and exit the pit taking the chalk?.
