Hi guys, I dont know about you lot but I use small pieces of lead wire pushed into my pop up to help balance it. I was sorting out my tackle bag reday for later on this week only to find I have almost run out. I have tried Danson Angling & the Tackle Box but both advise me that the no longer stock it. I have also tried to get some lead soldering wire from the local plumbing shop who tell me it's no longer available for health & safety reasons & they only stock lead free solder wire. I find this hard to believe because it's still possible to buy very fine stuff for tying trout flies. Unfortunately it's far to thin & light weight. Does anybody know where I can get a couple of rolls of lead wire because I find it so useful.

Hi spud, many thanks for the links. Unfortunately the wire is to narrow for my needs. In addition to pushing it into pop ups I also use it to weight down the last few feet of my lines. I place short lengths of wire against my leader & then cover with shrink tube. I need a certain size as it enables me to make the rig up safely. To small & the top bead slides off & rides up the line, to thick & the bead can't slide over it safely in case of a break. However I have been fortunate enough to have been offered a couple of small rolls of lead solder wire. However the person who is giving me the wire has confirmed that it is now banned from sale due to H&S rules, so I will be looking after my little stash. With regards O&DAA no I am no longer a member. I dropped out at the end of 2008 season. Shame really as they have some nice waters but there you go. Can't have it all ways John

Flighty is it not worth using the tip of a nut drill and taking a little bit out of the pop up.Then putting a small shot onto the hair and slipping it into the bait.
