I have a fishing tale of woe for you!
Got to the lake in Surrey that i'm fishing last night in light drizzle but nothing too bad and found a swim facing into the brisk but warm wind and went and got the gear.
The swim had an island about 40 yards away with lots of over hangs and looked carpy with pads 35 yards past that in the middle and bars and gullys all the way back to the swim.
First cast with a lead, short of the hangers, 2nd cast up the tree, lost it all and retackled with lead core and a new lead. 3rd cast straight up the same tree, lost it all, retackled with new lead core and lead. Short, so clipped up, got the perfect distance and put a nice lovingly made PVA bag and meshed bait (lots of signal crays). 4th cast with PVA bag up the same tree as the other casts but managed to get it all back but snapped hook link.
The drizzle turned to rain so got the tent up and finally got both the rods sorted and in good positions.
The next problem came when putting bait out, the smallest glimpse of the throwing stick/catapult meant the swim had 20 seagulls flying all over it who ate everything, so gave up and thought about cooking some dinner, so got the oven ready for my pizza and garlic bread I had bought.
The GB came out nice and i finally felt quite relaxed and gave a little chuckel about the casts, so I popped in the pizza which after 10 mins came out looking lovely. On sitting on the edge of my bedchair I moved back and unknowingly dropped the whole pizza face down in the dust, gravel and general crap outside my tent door.
At this point I climbed into my bag, ate the bag of chocolate buttons and went to sleep felling hungry and dejected, only to be woken in the night by the crays attacking the hell out of the island rod! It was so bad that I had to move it in the end but not before making the rod beep so much that I was now completely wide awake!
Needless to say it was soon 6am and work called. The 4hrs sleep and a blank means that I feel tired and quite dejected today!
I thought fishing was meant to be relaxing!!
