some of you may have see the article on the DDAPS web site regarding the closure of Danson Park lake in Bexleyheath. (http://www.ddaps.org/images/E_A_Warning_Danson.jpg)
Without going into any detail I have just heard from another club of which I am a member that they have had to close one of their lakes upon the advice of the EA & they have also closed another just half a mile away from the first one as a precaution. At present it has not been made clear what the problem is & I certainly don't want to speculate. All I would like to say is please dip your nets, mats, soles of your boots etc (if there are facilities to do so) before you fish any water not just DDAPS & if possible again on the way out. Best safe than sorry. Also leave your nets etc out in the sun to dry out thoroughly as IMHO drying your wet gear kills off the "bugs" better than anything else. I tend to be a bit anal about this & spray my nets etc with Virkon S before drying it off. Also please consider changing or at least drying off your lines (lay it out on the grass in the sun) occasionally as this may harbour some virus when wound back wet. Only the top few mm will dry off the rest will probably remain damp. Sorry this may appear a bit OTT but our fish are to precious to lose just because we can't be bothered to spend a few minutes ensuring out nets etc a occasionally dried thoroughly. Rant over.
ps the waters mentioned above are only roughly 7 or 8 miles from our new Bennett's lake. Lets not *u*k things up on any of our waters.
